Since Philipp Rößle founded it in Berlin in 2018, Kolonne Null has been rethinking wine: alcohol-free, from traditionally pressed vintage wines, with no compromise on taste. Eight years and more than a thousand de-alcoholised wines have taught us one thing — in the end, taste decides, not the number on the label. We were never dogmatic about it. So now we're taking the step in between: low alcohol wine at 6% ABV.
Our Berlin lab is the heart of it: here we taste, blend and select the source wines of our partner winemakers. No artificial flavourings, no colourings, no additives. What ends up in the glass is the result of real craft.
WHAT IS LOW ALCOHOL WINE?
Low alcohol wine is real wine. It is pressed and fermented as usual before the alcohol is gently removed by vacuum distillation at under 30 °C. Unlike a de-alcoholised wine, the process stops halfway: at Kolonne Null, 6% ABV stays in the glass. The low temperature protects aroma and structure. What remains is a wine with more body than at 0.0% and more drinkability than the original: less warmth, more fruit up front.
The legal term is partially de-alcoholised wine: above 0.5% ABV, but below the level the grapes originally delivered. Legally, wine counts as alcohol-free at 0.5% ABV or less — that's the 0.0% range from Kolonne Null.

At KOLONNE NULL we deliberately do without artificial flavourings, colourings or any other additives — they would only get in the way of the taste.

Does low alcohol wine taste like real wine? How many calories does a 6% ABV wine have?
Low alcohol wine is real wine, just with less alcohol. How good it tastes depends on the source wine: Kolonne Null selects it for structure, because a thin wine doesn't get better through de-alcoholisation. Because the process runs at under 30 °C, the varietal aromas are preserved. And at 6% ABV, more body stays in the glass than at 0.0%.
How many calories are in a 6% ABV wine?

Is low alcohol wine alcohol-free?
No. Low alcohol wine — in wine law, partially de-alcoholised wine — contains more than 0.5% ABV; at Kolonne Null it is 6%. Alcohol-free means 0.5% ABV or less, and our wines are in the de-alcoholised 0.0% range. You can find them here.
